"Sugoi!! Having travelled to Japan six times now, and stayed in practically every type of accommodation from family ryokans, hostels, business hotels and big “western” style hotels…this by far has been the best. Why? The amazingly friendly and helpful staff. The room design has a nice traditional twist for a modern hotel. Would recommend a lake view room too (great for people watching and having a little deck in a hotel in Japan is unheard of). Highly recommend. "

"Our stay at Nara Ryokan was perfect - very lovely quiet stay and beautiful rooms, and an amazing onsen/public bath. It wasn't listed for the hotel, but you are able to reserve a "family time" for the onsen use where I was able to privately share the onsen together with my husband and our friends with tattoos were also able to utilize for their own private time, which was a great experience, particularly with the provided robes and slippers. "Great place to stay, very close to Kintetsu-Nara train station. Lots of places nearby to eat nearby. A short walk to the park. Breakfast and coffee in the morning was very nice. Our only negative point, our room (201) did smell of smoke quite strongly. We believe it was above the smoking room downstairs. Overall a great stay and would recommend highly."

"This is the best Hostel to book on any budget. Since it is also a cafe the interior is upper nice and modern looking. As in the name, the interior is all made of wood and has that amazing wood smell that makes you feel so welcomed and at peace. "This lodging was perfect for visiting the park. Facility was clean, quiet, our room was spacious, & the staff very friendly. They let us know about evening lantern event, and breakfast available for purchase at 9am in a cafe near by. Location in the park is convienent for some travelers without transportation visiting the park. It was a short hike from the bus stop at the museum. Could use a sign at the bottom of hill on bus route for lodging location. Of the park workers we asked, no one seemed...

"Very nice corridor with classic music at a low volume. Double entry doors that bring down the outside noise. It has a small entrance space between those doors. Nicely decorated and spacious room. A choice of drinks and other stuff you might need in small vending machines inside the room. AC and heating working well. Ensuite sauna, jet-bath, shower, separate bathroom and sink. Microwave, kettle, different glasses and plates, sets of assorted coffee and tea.. Very clean. The only reason of 4 stars...

"I chose this ryokan since it was the only reasonably priced one in the Nara area. It has a beautiful garden just outside our room and the room itself was comfortable and large. The only downside to the place was the strong smell in the room and the cockroach that I had to kill as it crawled across the room."

"The Yamabe allows for a cheap stay at close location of Tenri JR and Kintetsu stations. The proximity of the railway may bother the ones who want a quiet stay, as the train service runs from 5 am to 11 pm. Nonetheless, the hotel staff is friendly and the rooms are clean and have all is needed. For information, toilet and washing facilities are not comprised in the rooms. Although it did not pose me any problem, this may bother some. "

Lovely quiet ryokan with onsen

"Our stay at Nara Ryokan was perfect - very lovely quiet stay and beautiful rooms, and an amazing onsen/public bath. It wasn't listed for the hotel, but you are able to reserve a "family time" for the onsen use where I was able to privately share the onsen together with my husband and our friends with tattoos were also able to utilize for their own private time, which was a great experience, particularly with the provided robes and slippers. The hotel is about a 10min walk away from the main station, and just around the corner from a lovely park with a nearby Starbucks and small park where the deer freely hangout and roam around. A truly lovely place to stay, would definitely stay here again!"
