"Nice and clean, quiet location but only a 3-5 min walk from amusements. Only draw back bit of a musty smell in the shower which wasnt very powerful, more of a trickle....but overall, comfortable and clean"

Marlborough Hotel

"This is one of the nicest places we have stayed. Overall quality of the decor, fixtures and fittings and facilities was second to none. Bathtub has to be seen to be believed, it's massive. Bed really comfy. Telly could be a little bigger but it was adequate. Had to turn the heating down, that's a first. Staff sooo helpful and polite. We will be back. "

"We booked to stay for two nights whilst visiting the local area. Check in was unbelievably simple, after which we were shown to our Room. Throughout our stay all the Staff were extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful. We ate in the Bar on both nights of our stay. The Menu was very good and well priced. The Food was excellent and served with a smile. Breakfast is not available in the pub itself but Guests are given a Continental Breakfast Bag in the Room for each morning. The contents had been...

The Paradise Guest House

2.0 star property
8.2 out of 10, Very Good, (15)
"Stayed at the Paradise over a bank holiday weekend. I thought the level of service from the staff I met was first class, thank you. Bed was very comfirtable and overall the room was spacious. Ensuite shower worked perfectly. I think the kitchen needs a few extra utensils such as a bottle opener, but the cooking facilities overall were good and helped to save money. The people in the room above could be noisy but in general we had a good night's sleep and had an enjoyable stay."

EASTON AT THE MAJESTIC

2.0 star property
7.0 out of 10, Good, (63)
"This is a budget hotel and I have reviewed it as such. At £23 a night it was perfect for my overnight pit stop. Room was dated but perfectly functional. Shower was a little small but plenty of hotwater and great pressure. Room was clean and bed comfy, I slept like a log. 2 towels provided and provisiions for 2 cups of coffee. Microwave and fridge. Unmanned reception but codes for entry were sent in good time and it was self explanatory. Probably wouldnt stay for a long holiday (unless on a very...

Sir Alfred Munnings Hotel

2.0 star property
9.0 out of 10, Wonderful, (214)
"All the staff friendly and helpful. I liked the character beams and wall beams in the period property. Lovely huge comfy bed. My arthritic hands could barely turn the bathroom sink taps on and off as the taps were very stiff. I was cold in the night and early morning and wished there was a room heater I could control myself. The toilet flush took a long time to fill. But on the whole a pleasant stay, thank you very much."

"Waste of my time submitting a review you so r post? Hotels.com? A waste of time.Turned up at our hotel and the entry code didn’t work. Because someone had changed the lock. Rang the number given on the email and spoke to a very unhelpful man who said he couldn’t do anything for me unless I had an eight figure code which I had to get from Hotel.com. I tried searching the emails while he was on the line but had no 4G coverage so couldn’t open the attachments. Rang the given number again twice and...

Ruins of St Mary's Church, Kirby Bedon. In 1195 Langley Abbey was established nearby (See 144961) Shortly afterwards the manor of St Mary's was acquired by the Abbey and the vicars were appointed by the abbot. When Langley Abbey was closed by Henry VIII in 1536, (during the dissolution of the monasteries) the church of St Mary's land was confiscated by the Crown along with the rest of the Abbey's possessions. After this the church was run by a curate who was an assistant to the parish priest of 112034 opposite. At this point St Mary's became the less important church in the village. It is likely that although in theory, the two parishes were still separate, local people would have preferred to go to St Andrew's where there was a rector, rather than the poorer St Mary's.
