"Amazing trip away, the pub is outstanding and the huts behind were brilliant to stay in. There are no cooking facilities but we were aware and planned accordingly. The mattress was not the most comfortable we have slept on but still would return in a heartbeat, had a brilliant trip away for a birthday treat. "

Preston Quarry If following the public footpath from the tank road towards Preston village, walkers are advised not to try to stick to the official line of the path, unless equipped with a parachute. The sensible way is to use the grassy ramp seen here, then to find a route across the quarry floor. This shot shows the carboniferous limestone face on the left and the bedding plane that one walks across. Preston quarry closed in the 1970's.
