"I think this ryokan is somewhat overrated on Hotels.com. Specifically, first, it is definitely showing its age. Second, if you have back problems, the accommodation might be uncomfortable, because the seat thing is at floor level. I requested a table and a chair, but they didn’t have a high enough table. I found that surprising. The meals are fantastic and the staff are extremely polite."

"We had the most incredible stay here while visiting Hakone. The location is ideal: a 2 min walk from the main train station and right on the river. Waking up to the sound/view of the river is just magical. The team working here is incredibly nice, hospitable and accommodating. We did the half board and the food was delicious and varied. "Unbelievable night here. Views of lake Ashi and Mount Fuji the best you can get. Even from our personal onsen or balcony footpath. The kids loved watching a movie on the big projector while the parents enjoyed the view. Fridge full of free gifts of food, wine and beer plus soft drinks also. Nice touch. We absolutely loved it here. Caught the bus from odawara station which took about 55mins and the bus stop is just outside the accommodation (Hakone Shiso Mae). On way back 2 bus stops either side...
