"Room was small but very tidy, it had everything we needed. Bed wasn’t the comfiest but ok for one night. The view was amazing, high over other houses the countryside stretched for miles. Don’t book if you don’t like heights. Unfortunately there was something making a noise all night (heating, A/C, water) I don’t know what but it sounded like a heart beat all night long and kept me awake. "Pretty location. Pleasant stay in a nice room in the annexe. Good breakfast and decent food in the evening. The only issue really is access. It's in the middle of nowhere with steep narrow single track roads that are pretty treacherous and stressful in the dark and bad weasther."

"A couple of downsides - stairs rather steep and a little dimly lit for an elderly lady and not sure sound proofing in rooms is that good but otherwise very enjoyable stay with very accommodating hosts "

"Had a steak in the evening it was lovely, I wasn't very impressed with the breakfast, no brown bread offered sourdough, but it just looked like a chunk of white bread, didn't eat. sausages were burnt, mushrooms, tomato and egg was nice. "

"The Alma Lodge Guest House is Conveniently situated with easy off street parking. Very comfortable room. Excellent facilities and wide choice of breakfast. Wonderful host, very helpful, nothing too much trouble. Highly recommend. Thank you"

"The staff were so welcoming and lovely it made the stay so enjoyable. There was an issue with WiFi and the staff couldn't apologise enough. It did not matter to us as we could enjoy the stay without the phones/emails etc. The food was all home cooked and delicious. Will definitely visit again."

"Contrary to some reviews i have read about this establishment, we were very impressed! The staff were really lovely and very helpful, friendly and efficient. The room was clean,well appointed and quiet. We ate there both evenings of our stay and i honestly couldn't fault our meals in any way. Simply delicious and plenty of it. Breakfast was also very good and massive! We will definately be staying here again and i thouroughly,wholeheartedly reccommend it to anyone. Well done Burrator inn."

"Parking was limited to 3 narrow spaces at the rear of the guesthouse but there is the option of residents parking in a nearby street (we were given a residents parking permit). We were in an en-suite room in the basement, with use of the fridge and microwave in the basement kitchen area which was useful. There were a couple of cobwebs in the corners of the room but the shower, toilet, sink and bed were spotless. Breakfast was great, with a varied menu. The dining room was clean and welcoming....

"This is not a hotel. its more of a doss house. Paid for 2 nights. went to the moxy instead which is just another level compared to this. Yes its cheap, but the whole area feels unsafe, and you wouldnt want to leave your car here."

"The person that met me seemed very disinterested. The room they gave me didn't match the pictures on Hotels.com. It was tiny, I wouldn't have booked it if the pictures had shown the correct room. The shower didn't work. The person seemed unconcerned, just said a guest had broken it and there was a bathroom down the hall. "The hotel is very central and very close to the shops. The hotel staff are very friendly, helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Being able to reserve a disabled parking space means that we don’t have to worry about being able to park. On our arrival, receptionist Gemma helped my friend with moving our luggage from the front entrance to reception. This really helped my friend as I have mobility difficulties and am not able to help. I would also like to mention, Rachel, Gracie, Carly, Nicky and Patrick for all their help and kindness. The staff are an asset to the hotel, and the reason that we will be booking to stay again. "
