"The cottage was small and cosy, with everything I needed—from a beautiful posy of freshly picked flowers on arrival to all the kitchen basics, including paper towels, fresh milk in the fridge, and even a small low-fat milk! The same thoughtful touches were found throughout the cottage, like a bottle of conditioner in the bathroom and a copy of the instructions on how to use the air conditioner being available, making my stay even more comfortable.One of the highlights for me was sitting on the covered back porch, watching a massive thunderstorm roll by. Walking barefoot on the most incredible, lush grass! I also loved sitting on a bench by the river, watching two water dragons on the opposite bank battle sunniest spot on the rocks.But the biggest highlight was meeting Phil (as Annie was away). Phil is my idea of the quintessential Australian—laid-back, friendly, and easygoing in the best possible way, making me feel instantly at ease. A real ‘can-do, fix-anything’ kind of person, he even showed me around his fantastic work shed—complete with its own resident possum!What I appreciated most about Phil was that he was always happy to chat when the moment was right. We had some truly enjoyable conversations, but I never felt intruded upon. At the same time, I spent hours in the garden or by the river, soaking in the peace and beauty—such a contrast to where I live.What I miss the most? The quiet, the beauty, my seat by the river, and especially those chats with Phil."
