What a diamond in the sand! As soon as we arrived, we couldn't believe our luck in finding this place! Even better than the pictures! Melinda was so lovely, friendly and helpful throughout the booking process and our stay, she kindly accommodated myself, my daughter and my 10 year old grandson, happy for us to bring our own airbed and bedding for him. The beach retreat was spotlessly clean and so warm and welcoming (even in the cold weather of a February half term). It was extremely well equipped, we found everything we could possibly need, even an oyster knife and especially binoculars! My grandson had them out every morning, watching the local shell fish collections and admiring the distant ship wreck! We didn't have a lot of spare cash and we didn't need it! Good old fashioned outdoor fun filled our days! We collected shells/stones and driftwood for the fire pit, ate bbq's as the sun set and revelled at the amazing ever changing views over breakfast! We flew kites on the beach and went crabbing off the pier at Whitstable harbour (we broke the current record by catching 11 crabs in one day which delighted my grandson!). The harbour is well worth a visit, it's pretty and quaint with not a slot machine in sight! The fresh shellfish are gorgeous especially the huge native oysters served with a smile and plenty of info at The Forge. They even cleaned out the shells so my grandson could take them home! When we were cold and tired we retreated to our cosy home from home and played board games with a view and hot chocolate, surrounded by pretty mood lighting! All in all, a wonderful restful/peaceful/private and stress free break was had by all three generations (my grandson didn't even bother to charge his phone or tablet!). We all desperately want to return and i am someone who has never returned to the same place twice, preferring to try new places, but this will be my exception! There is so much more to see and do in the area. Thank you again Melinda!
