"We loved the idea of staying in a castle and that in itself was magical. We stayed in the Cromwell Suite which is big. The kids loved the extra room to roam. The high ceiling in the living/2nd bed area was nice and contributed to the majestic feel.There were however a few things that could have been better. "I had a wonderful stay! The room is wonderfully appointed, quite large and very cozy. I was thrilled at seeing it. I'm still thinking about the amazing claw foot tub! The food at the Bower House below is absolutely delicious and the staff are incredibly kind and service-oriented. I hope I get to stay here soon again. The downtown area that the restaurant and rooms are in is so charming with many shops, restaurants, etc. I loved my three night stay"

"Ilmington is a charming village and it is still unspoilt by tourism and traffic. It is so bucolic as the sheep graze on the hills surrounding the village and the quiet of the night is worth the price of admission. We loved the Howard Arms. The Village room was spacious and had loads of history and beautiful features. Breakfasts were plentiful with good options. We will definitely stay here again if we return to this part of the Cotswolds."

"Really lovely staff and the check in experience was very pleasant. The room was just about acceptable in terms of cleanliness but the toilet was not clean and still had used paper in it. The room and the surroundings were very tired and beyond worn in some places, especially the carpet on the stairs which was very dirty. As there was no breakfast, we could not comment on it. It’s such a shame because the setting is quite pleasant and it could be a lovely place to visit. "

"The pub was warm and welcoming with log fires. They were able to accommodate our request for an early check in. The room was large and comfortable with good facilities. The breakfast choice was good too. Would definitely stay again."
