"I like the way they combine modern convenience with this very old building. I thought the decor in the rooms attempted to achieve this combination but it was a bit bland overall. Internet connection was great, and appreciated. Some of my party wanted to stay up late….we were staying in preparation for a funeral the next day, which was taxing for all of us …staying up late was not welcomed by the staff on duty, and all the lights were turned off outside which made it a bit treacherous when...

"The place is under new management who offered a warm welcome, a clean room, done up the place as best they could. The place still has a few issues from being taken over eg shower not draining well and a new mattress due but the new team are trying hard to make a go of it and are trying to make good."

"Kind and lovely people, lovely chat and they really cared. Very much a spare room in the end of their house with a it’s own bathroom so very homely. Breakfast room was a breakfast room with lots of stuff and a cat (I loved the cat). It’s down a very rough and rocky track in the car. Basically it’s an authentic working farm with some lovely farmers who make a solid breakfast. I’d be back. If you are looking for a polished hotel experience this isn’t for you but for a real life nice people...

"Parking was limited to 3 narrow spaces at the rear of the guesthouse but there is the option of residents parking in a nearby street (we were given a residents parking permit). We were in an en-suite room in the basement, with use of the fridge and microwave in the basement kitchen area which was useful. There were a couple of cobwebs in the corners of the room but the shower, toilet, sink and bed were spotless. Breakfast was great, with a varied menu. The dining room was clean and welcoming....

"The staff were so welcoming and lovely it made the stay so enjoyable. There was an issue with WiFi and the staff couldn't apologise enough. It did not matter to us as we could enjoy the stay without the phones/emails etc. The food was all home cooked and delicious. Will definitely visit again."

"Ideal single room with ensuite ,desk and TV - clean and tidy, warm and comfortable bed - perfect, just what I needed for the one night. Was greeted on arrival and also when i left. One minor downside the blinds arent black out ones unless I didnt see a curtain I could pull across."

"I didn’t like that there was no greeting and did not see anyone while I stayed there to report no lighting in bathroom and no hot water in sink."

"This is not a hotel. its more of a doss house. Paid for 2 nights. went to the moxy instead which is just another level compared to this. Yes its cheap, but the whole area feels unsafe, and you wouldnt want to leave your car here."

"Gorgeous cottage with lots of character, low ceilings in areas but you soon learnt to dodge. All part of the character. Stair banister rail stunning character made from drift wood. All rooms on suite so no fighting over bathrooms and a jacuzzi bath downstairs. The owners were very welcoming and full book with instructions on arrival. As well as lots of ideas of places to visit. Fresh milk in the fridge on arrival and the added dry herbs etc in the kitchen added to the homely feel for the week....

"We flew from Texas to Buckfastleigh for a vacation with family. We loved the house and the host, Shelley and Pete, made us feel welcome the moment we arrived. We stayed 3 nights and loved it. "Overall, our stay was great and we had a lovely time. The food in the restaurant was amazing. The only quibble was that our cream tea took 30 mins to get to us in the afternoon, and then our dinner took 1 hour due to some timing issues with a big table. However, the waitress was incredibly lovely and apologetic for the delay - in the end, our food and drink were all free due to the delay, which was appreciated. We loved the lounge area too, such lovely decor and the atmosphere was welcoming. Our room was slightly dated (furniture) but it served its purpose - the bed was super comfy and the bathroom was lovely and clean. We could hear quite a bit of noise from adjoining rooms (doors closing and voices) but luckily didn’t go on into the night and was very short lived. Overall, we would definitely stay again. Thank you for a lovely stay! "
