"The room was on the top floor overlooking the lake but the trees blocked most of the view. The size of the room was good and the bed was comfortable. It would have been good to have smaller pillows available in the room. I ended up rolling up a towel to make a smaller pillow. Meals were included in the stay and there was plenty of variety. Only real bummer is that I think I left my Prescription Progressive Glasses in the room and can't get anyone to pick up the phones & check!"

"This is a big and busy resort hotel in a very scenic area. The room was large and well equipped. The staff in all departments were friendly and helpful. The included breakfast and dinner (both buffet style) were of a reasonable quality, although quite monotonous if you are there for more than one night. "Pension Heidi is a charming little pension run by a graceful and kind hearted couple. The rooms and amenities were basic but you can feel the place has character. All meals were delicious and we could tell they were prepared with care and love. We happened to get stuck in intense rain while on a trek and the owners called to check on us and even came to pick us up in their car. We were truly touched. I think pensions are a better way to travel in Japan than staying in overpriced resorts. You...
