The Trecarn Hotel
5/5 Excellent
"The biggest plus about this property is the staff: they were wonderful, both at check-in and at check-out. The lobby area is large and inviting, and well-lit. Rather than having on-site parking, the property chose to turn the hotel forecourt into outdoor seating with picnic tables. While sitting outside might be nice in the wamer summer months, not having on-site parking is a negative: the hotel sits on a residential street, so street parking nearby is at a premium.
The bedroom corridor and bedroom itself immediately brought to mind a hotel I stayed at in Cornwall in the 1970s. Both were clean and properly maintained, but a renovation would not go amiss: the wall paper was very 1970s!
The bed was comfortable as were the pillows, and the comforter was great: I slept like a baby!
The bathroom, however, was minute, and that is not an exaggeration. It was a squeeze to get into the shower, and as a 6'1", 250 lb woman, there was barely room in the shower stall to get washed. Given the size of room overall, there would have been plenty of room to increase the size of the bathroom without taking away any of the spaciousness of the bedroom.
Overall, this hotel served its purpose as a low-budget, affordable overnight stay, and I would certainly choose to stay here again."
