To be honest, this bed and breakfast surpassed any four-star hotel we’ve stayed at in England. "Funny little place. Rooms upstairs in a pub but dont let that put you off as pub is only open 3-8pm. Kitchen wasnt doing breakfast which would have been handy to know before i turned up. Very convenient for the city, with free off street parking which is a rarity in york. Room was clean and comfy. Wpuld stay again for the price. "

"After reading some of the negative reviews we were very pleasantly surprised. Staff were helpful and attentive and actually went above and beyond. Overall the property is a little dated and and in one of our rooms the tv wasn't working properly and in another the the lightbulbs needed replacing but it's clean, the beds are comfy and it's close to town. Would definitely stay here again."

"As Americans traveling in the UK for the first time, staying here was one of the highlights of our trip. Catherine greeted us like old friends, phoned ahead to secure us a dinner reservation at the excellent local pub after hours, and prepared us a spectacular breakfast.
