"Our family group of 4 adults were all disappointed with how grubby this property was. We don’t mind things which are a bit shabby (carpet, paintwork, furniture, curtains) but we really like things to be clean! Don’t even expect hospital standards but not ….dead bugs, spiders, dust, cobwebs…. Hair and mould in showers, basins, bathroom mirrors splashed with someone else’s toothpaste….YUK. Kitchen equipment greasy and grimy. Also the downstairs bedroom was very damp and unaired and we had to move...

"Great spot, bit small but would certainly rent again, you do need to sort the ant issue out, they are coming in through the power socket on the kitchen bench …"

"The back was clean and tidy , accommodated us all and things were very easy to find. It’s away from everything so the fresh air and the green just made my day . I will recommend this place to everyone 🤗"

"Kereru Cottage lived up to its name. Kaka were also abundant and other beautiful birds. Close to the Village it enabled us to walk from the Cottage to dine and shop. A lovely place to stay."

"The hot water system needs to be replaced as the flow sensor is very worn, this means you have to have the pressure on full to make the unit fire. We left the vanity tap on hot when we showered to stop the shower going cold, not ideal when your on tank water. The bunks are very squeaky and didn’t feel that safe. It was very hot inside, a couple of cheap fans would have been nice. A couple of sharp bits on the deck need some attention and the back area could do with a clean, lots of mosquitoes...

"We had a lovely stay, which was too brief, but nevertheless everything we had hoped for. Our furry friends loved it too. Quiet and surprisingly private home in what is in fact a very built up subdivision. We felt like we were hidden away in a private oasis."

"Absolutely blown away with cottage. The space makes you feel like you’ve arrived in the woods. Very clean , nice linen, good kitchen equipment and the shower was a dream after our long drive . Loved seeing the deer. Jennifer was very welcoming and we appreciated the walk through at arrival, wonderful hostess 💓 We’ll return again!"

"We had the best time staying at this property! It had everything we needed and the hosts were so amazing, Di was away while we stayed but her communication leading up to stay and even during when she was overseas was excellent and Billy was so welcoming and helpful while we were there making sure we had the best time. The house was perfect for our family and great for young children (we have a 2 year old) with enclosed deck and able to keep them on the top level. We will definitely be back,...

"An ideally located cosy cottage in an enclave of similar cottages - in the heart of Mangawhai village - suited perfectly our get away needs close to family that couldn’t accommodate us on their property!Occupants of other cottages were very respectful - and despite the cottage to cottage close proximity, noise was not an issue - all very peaceful - helped by Barb’s Cottage being at the rear of the enclave. Will stay again!"

Great stay over Christmas

"We had the most wonderful experience staying at this property over Christmas! The house was beautifully decorated, immaculately clean, spacious, and fully equipped with everything we needed to make our stay comfortable.The host went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. They were incredibly thoughtful, leaving a basket of holiday treats and fruit, which added a personal and warm touch to our stay. Communication was seamless, and they were always quick to respond to any questions we had.The location was perfect—peaceful yet close enough to shops and beach. It truly felt like a home away from home.I highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a cozy and welcoming place to stay."

Comfortable stay

"We stayed at this motel, to help break up our journey south. The room was spacious, spotless and comfortable. Despite its location adjacent the highway, the room was quiet with a rural outlook. Our room looked suitable for a wheelchair bound person with wide doorways and spaces between furniture. Accommodation was about 10mins walk to town center. Room had a range of modern amenities "
