The hotel is conveniently located by the lake with a supermarket just down the street and a shuttle bus which brings guests to and from Otsu station. Rioms were clean and we got upgraded to a bigger room which was good for our family. View from the room was great too!"

Know that if you only have a JR pass and come in at JR Nara it's a 3.5km walk to the hotel - doable in nice weather and because its flat or get on a bus! We loved the new, clean features and the practical laundry was great for travellers."

Only a couple of the overly numerous front desk staff speak reliable English. As in all Japanese hotels I have used, very poor TV offerings in English, almost pointless. I have stayed at this hotel for two to three week stays in three of the past eight years as I have family in Tokyo. Would have been more except for stringent Japanese COVID restrictions. Entirely honest in billing. Fair costs but well above average for travelers with budget worries who should probably stay elsewhere."
