"Hotel was tranquil and reasonably clean. However, outdoor bathroom and gaps in the wooden windows meant there were heaps of mosquitoes even in the hotel room. The toilet which was located outdoors was also often wet during rainy season. Location wise, it was close to a number of tourist spots that our kids enjoyed. However, this also meant prices within the hotel and surroundings can be quite expensive. Overall, the staff were friendly and food was great. Not sure if I would recommend visiting...

"Beautiful setting , fantastic pool , very secluded but service at the hotel was non existent , very , very limited menu at the restaurant ( rat bait in the corner) Poor transport from the hotel , only one way . Some of the staff were most unhelpful and didn't seem to care . We left after two days and went elsewhere for our last three days ."

"It was amazing to stay at thewakanda. Located in a quiet place with a magnificent rice padi field setting that will restore your sense of peace and calm. The restaurant is great as well, and don't sleep on the activities run by the resort, especially the cycling trip to a nearby waterfall."

"The conditions of this property were absolutely disgusting. Considering what they charge per night after 2 nights I had to leave. The green mould growing around the exhaust fan, black mould and small mushrooms growing around the toilet, silicone in the shower, and on the tiles: not to mention white mould coming through on the bedroom feature wall cement rendering. "The family and staff who own and run this resort are absolutely incredible. The service and willingness to please is beyond compare. The food was some of the best we had after being in Indonesia for 2 weeks. If going to the zoo to ha e breakfast with the elephants and orangutans is on your list, this resort is convenient and very special. We would highly recommend and we have stayed all over Bali and the World. Well run place with people who genuinely care. "

"I had the most amazing stay. This is a pretty small hotel where the staff calls you by your name. The room was very nice, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was healthy and delicious and the breakfast server, Anik, was amazing. She made me feel so at home and relaxed. Morning yoga was excellent and the hotel has a really cool sauna and nice salt water pool. "Really disappointed given the reviews. Might be the nature of the property being primarily a retreat. So if your not up to vegetarian, limited amenities, steer clear. Staff were fantastic , even helped me with local shuttle, thanks, but had the feeling that if you weren't there on some healing, life altering mission, you didn't fit in. ** it was not listed in the listing that there are no tvs, or smoking. "Stay here if you want a relaxing visit near Ubud. Takes an hour and half from the airport and 30ish minutes from the center of Ubud without traffic. The grounds are beautiful. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, ordered a la carte. I had dinner onsite and ordered room service as well. Both meals were delicious and the presentation was beautiful. They offer complimentary tea and small bites in the afternoon. That was enjoyable. I stayed in a room overlooking the smaller pool. The room was basic, but had everything I needed. The only negative was that my room was near the housekeeper room and I could hear them go and out often but I was rarely in my room. I would highly recommend this place and come back and stay in their villas. "

"The staff were very helpful. I enjoyed the buffet breakfast every morning, as there was a wide selection of options to choose from. The complimentary Balinese massage was another great addition by the hotel and I was especially impressed with the hospitaly of the ladies at the Spa. "
