"We really enjoyed our stay here!! It's a very cute hotel. Some highlights are the decorations throughout the whole hotel (rooms included) and the communal den area that had space for many people to sit around and enjoy the space. Another highlight was the bar - the bartender who was serving when we were there mid-October was kind and knowledgeable - he made our stay at the hotel even more amazing with his service! The town of Ballater is easily walkable - we had dinner out at a local bar and enjoyed walking around the main street. We chose this spot as it was close to Balmoral Castle, which is where we were going the next day on our drive up from Edinburgh! I'd highly recommend staying here. "

"We have stayed at the Craiglynne several times, for us as an outdoorsy family it is an ideal blend of value, comfort and location. Some of the rooms may be a little tired, but they are large, clean, and facilities are good - it really works for us that they are dog friendly too. The staff are lovely and always happy to help make our stays, and part of the reason we keep going back. There is a lovely woodland area literally just opposite the hotel which is great for walking, particularly having some shelter if the weather turns inclement. Looking forward to our next stay already!!"

"Overall a very comfortable experience. This is the second time we stayed in Macdonald's hotel, opted for half board and loved our meals everynight. Breakfast was great, would be nice to have meatfree options for vegetarians, even if not in buffet but can offer to prepare it if requested, still loved scones and beans and pancakes, kind and caring staff."

We were a bit worried when arriving with our 2 year old that it might not be child friendly as it was clearly a beautiful building, but the staff were absolutely lovely with her and very happy to provide what we needed. We had a lovely stay and would definitely come back. Highly recommended."
