"We spent 2 days in Bienenberg Hotel. On arrival, we were asked whether we would be willing to take breakfast late, as that would allow personnel to come to work later. After recovering from that surprise, we had dinner in the restaurant. When we mentioned that the whipped cream in our desert was tasteless, the waitress replied that "In Switzerland, whipped cream has no taste". When we complained that there was a heavy deposit in the bottom of our glass of wine, we were told that that is normal....

Somewhere between a prison cell and a hotel room, the facilities here are functional to the extreme, but generally clean (linens fresh, did have long black hair on floor, and I'm blond...) "Clean, modern room and the hotel was really quiet at night. Breakfast was good with plenty of options. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only negative was the shower gel was running very low and not filled up and only two hangers in the wardrobe which was not enough for our five night stay. "The only negative was that other guest’s dog lefy 2 piles of geces in the corridet. Someone tried to remove it but left 2 significant feces smears on the carpet. We immediately notified front desk receptionist. Then next morning we told the housekeeper who was aware. "Lovely hotel in centre of Basel. Nice staff, nice breakfast (extra) and free mini bar (not re stocked during stay which was a shame). Only irritation - very noisy of a weekend as hotel is right on Main Street on top of bars. Woke on Saturday night / Sunday morning by a brawl outside window.
