Why terrible. It took 3 days to finally get our room cleaned somewhat after repeated visits to the front desk. NO dirty towel removal nor replace! Cleaning staff is overloaded. Too many rooms for them to clean so they hustled and took corners. This is a management issue! We want to emphasize that the rest of the services was prompt and courteous.

I've stayed at Hyperion in both my visits to Basel, Switzerland and I'll definitely stay here in the future. It's in a well connected neighborhood in terms of public transportation, dining options both inside and outside the hotel. They store your luggage for any number of days and that's a huge benefit. All in all a fantastic experience.

Everything about our stay at Hyperion hotel was brilliant. Tram/buses just at the doorstep. The room was just enough with good walk-in shower. Free mini bar too! Staff were all so accomodating. Will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Basel.

The hotel itself is very nice, modern, clean, and comfortable beds. It appears to be poorly staffed. There were long lines to check in, very long wait times at the bar/restaurant, and no housekeeping service to clean our room during our 3 day stay. When we checked in the representative said the items in the mini bar were free (included) and it would be refilled daily. It was never replenished during our stay. There were gates up all around the outside of the hotel, not sure why. We stayed here as part of a Viking pre-cruise addition and added a day to our stay via Expedia.

On the positive side. Lovely room, fantastic fresh breakfast and easy access to old town. The negatives. Room not ready on first night, this problem impacted lots of guests. We eventually got a room at 17:00 and just made our dinner reservation in town. Reception staff were obviously under stress for the whole time we were at the hotel, there appeared to be a skeleton crew running the hotel. No explanation given for delays. Room not cleaned on second day. Third day normal service resumed.

Very smart hotel with excellent views from the bedrooms. Very quiet on a weekend. I imagine it’s quite different during the week. Free mini bar with various drinks and some nuts. Only downside was the upselling emails I got in the days leading up to my stay. They were in German and went beyond my very modest capabilities so I had to use Google to translate for me to make sure it wasn’t something important. Hardly the worst issue I could have had but a bit irritating.

The hotel is located in the conference center / area area. It’s a 35 minute walk from the main train station. However, there are trams and bus routes outside which can take you there also. My room was available early and it was great to be able to check-in when I arrived. The room was lovely and extremely comfortable. I appreciated having coffee and tea making facilities as I stayed for two nights. There was also a few complementary items in the mini-bar (water, beer, juice, pepsi and peanuts). Breakfast was included in my rate and they had a great selection of items. It is served in a bright airy room on the 3rd floor. I appreciated being able to take some items with me on my last day as I left at 7.15am. I had my own reusable coffee container but a staff member gave me a small cardboard container to use. I also had a drink one evening at the bar and the lady serving (I don’t remember her name) was extremely welcoming. As I was alone I appreciated her friendliness. The location of this hotel would be ideal if you were attending a concert or event at the arena. It’s also a good location, if you like to walk as I do or of you want to avail of the public transport.
