We had book a hotel in st ives and it was confirmed but when we reach there the hotel owner said it was cancelled weeks ago and hotels.com still confirmed our booking. When I asked for refund they said I haves to book new hotel through them or I don’t get a refund. Only issue was trying to find the 'central area' to drop off our rubbish, only bin we could find was behind some barriers, so had to leave it outside the property.
