It is standard to submit ID at accommodation in Italy. We were sent details of our room the day before arrival. This worked well. We had booked the budget room, which was on the ground floor. "The property was nice. In a nice quiet suburb. Only a 20 minute public transport ride to Venice. We got one bedroom in a three bed apartment. Each bedroom locks. There is a shared bathroom and dining room. The bed was super comfy. My only qualm with the place was that the door to get into the apartment was a bit difficult to open. The host was also super wonderful! Great place for the price you pay."
