"Everything was wonderful. The only thing was we had to leave early (6:30am) on the day we left and were told someone would come help us with our bags but no one came. Usually this would be okay but the stairs were too steep for us with our luggage to do on our own. "

"Second time at La Posada de Don Rodrigo and I would come back again. The place is beautiful with an amazing view to the lake. The staff is extremely nice and always ready and willing to help. They have a lake view restaurant with excellent traditional Guatemalan food. The pool was clean, the patio was also clean and nice to rest on the hammocks. The staff helped us get a boat to cross to the towns across the lake and we had a great time. This hotel is in a very convenient street which you can come out at night and buy stuff, food, see the lake and take amazing pictures. Parking on site, WIFI, museum on the premises and restaurant. Excellent place I would recommend for a family trip. "

"IT is the most beautiful hotel, the property is gorgeous. It's like being in a botanical garden. Pool and jacuzzi is great. It is super clean. The only downside is that i though the food wss mediocre. I look forward to coming back."

"If you want to wake up to the most beautiful view of Lake Atitlan and connect with nature you have to stay at El Picnic. We had the most amazing two night stay there. The food and drinks were top notch - Johan is an excellent chef. We enjoyed having breakfast and dinner with Johan, Gaby and the other couples. We just happened to be there during a meteor shower too and we saw 10 shooting stars from our patio. It was perfect! The two resident dogs were sweet and greeted us every day. The walk to the boat doc is only about 10 minutes (or you can take a quick tuktuk) so you can easily explore the towns around the lake. I’m so thankful we found this hidden gem."

"The hostel is located right at the base of Santa Cruz which made it super easy to grab the lanchas. My friend and I stayed in a private suite which was really nice and cozy. The grounds of the hostel itself are stunning and so relaxing! They host family-style dinner's every night which was so wholesome and was a great way to meet new people. The only cons I will say is that there's only wifi in the common spaces, and wifi doesn't reach the rooms. Other than that, I loved my stay! "

"Beautiful spot with spectacular lake and volcano view. Fairly well equipped kitchen. 3 large bedrooms - one upstairs with beautiful morning sun. Easy transport with local boat driver, though a bit expensive. Very accommodating to our changes in schedule. "

"Very charming hotel overlooking the lake. Lovely landscaping made for beautiful outdoor spaces to lie in a hammock, sit by the water, etc. Our room was clean and nice, but the bathroom and sheets could have been better. Breakfast was good - you get some options of traditional Guatemalan, more American style, pancakes, yogurt/granola etc. It is built into the hillside over the lake so there is some walking up and down to get around, but the staff kindly helped us with our luggage. No TVs in our room so would recommend bringing books / a deck of cards. We enjoyed using the free kayaks but were a little disappointed the hot tub was an additional charge. The area is in between San Juan and San Pedro - it's an easy walk into San Juan by a path down by the water, and easy to walk into San Pedro too but it's along a main road without sidewalks. Tuktuks are cheap and easy ways to get around, as are water taxis."
