If you walk up from the rail station, on the southwest side of the street and try to cross at the hotel you have the option to use the over-the-street walkway over the street (which is awkward if you have heavy rolling luggage!) So cross two blocks before the hotel."

"From the bullet train gate at Niigata Station to the front desk took no longer than a three and a half minute walk through the station complex. Lots and lots of shops and places to eat on the way. "This is a Japanese business style hotel in Tsubamesanjo. It was very close to the train station, but also had a free parking lot. The room was small but adequate. The bathroom was very tiny. The beds were Western style but lower than normal and the mattresses were quite firm, as were the buckwheat-filled pillows. The buffet breakfast had some hot items (poached eggs, sausage, potato fritters, etc.) as well as rice and grilled fish. They make their own croissants, which were good. In all a clean safe place to stay which is close to the train station. "
