"Check in was easy and the staff were very friendly. in fact all of the staff were very helpful, friendly but professional. the views were fantastic even when it was a bit cloudy, looking out to Robin Hood Bay when eating breakfast and dinner was a great treat, breakfast on the first morning was buffet style, while morning two was a cooked in kitchen, traditional UK type breakfast, cereals etc were as day one. Dinner was sublime, the choice was limited to other restaurants menus however the pie was make from scratch and the food was hot not just warm as other dining establishments that cost a lot more. The room was very spacious, light, airy and very clean with again very good vistas of the Bay, the bed was very comfy and plenty of space for clothing. however the small disappointment was the size of the bathroom, cramped compared to the room itself. the shower was powerful enough and easy to control the heat, bath was small, there was water damage to the plastic covered mdf bath panel and base, if solid plastic this would not be a problem, there was a light not working and becoming detached from the ceiling. Apparently we should have been informed on checking in that the TV signal was very poor via freeview/terrestial and we should have been using the streaming services? The hotel is going through much needed updated and convertions but never heard any of the work in our room, where the lift is there are items stored there and seems a little run down. would go back tomorrow."

"This is one of my favourite hotels to stay in Scarborough despite it being owned by the Britannia group of hotels . Where I live there is a lot of bigotry towards LGBTQI + people so I decided to take a break away from local bigots for a few days The lovely reception person saw how stressed and tired I was and as I love a high floor I was upgraded to the Gordon Suite, room 502 on the very top floor of the hotel . Bar a television without an antenna or a remote in the bedroom I had an excellent stay away from people in order to get my stress levels down . I enjoyed the upgrade and was well away from others which was just what I needed. Stayed many times at the Royal and I’d recommend it over the sister hotel the Grand ."

"We liked everything. Exceptional staff. Bedroom very comfortable with beautiful bathroom and this was one of the cheaper rooms. Breakfast cooked to order. Best quality products. We could not find fault. "

"Lovely hotel - we had the executive double with sea view - very comfortable king size bed, nice white bed and bathroom linen, large room with two bucket chairs and great sea view, tea/coffee, lovely clean bathroom with very hot water and great shower. Excellent breakfast and bar snacks. All staff from cleaning, reception, bar and breakfast room extremely friendly and helpful. Didn’t use the spa but looked nice and very popular. Paid for parking at back of hotel but TBH the parking at the front also seemed very safe. Would definitely revisit."

"The Spa Hotel sits just above the gorgeous coastline with an easy path down to the seaside. It is a slightly steep hill up to the town center, but that's easily walkable. The restaurant was excellent and everyone so kind and friendly. I saw the most spectacular sunrise and sunset at the property. You can't help but fall in love with the Hotel and it's natural beauty in the seaside surroundings."
