"A friend and I stayed here for a week on a birding trip to Costa Rica. We found most aspects of AOL to be good, but we really disliked our restaurant experience. I have food allergies and gave the staff a translated card explaining what I can and cannot eat. This approach worked well in every other place we stayed, but not at AOL. "This was my favorite place we stayed while in Costa Rica. Quaint cottage on beautiful grounds. Very quiet and peaceful, woke up to bird call. A short hiking trail on the premises. $10 to buy breakfast which we did not pay for but there was a nice breakfast area so I’m sure it would have been nice. There was a small coffee maker and fridge in the room so we made our own coffee and enjoyed it sitting outside on the porch. Highly recommend!"

"Very friendly front desk staff, provide all useful information. The room is very clean and can even see the volcano. Waiting up hearing all the bird churbing and that makes you feel so good. It’s like staying in the rain forest. Breakfast is included and you just need to drive 1-2 mins to the resort next door. All very convenient. "We thought the property was beautiful and the beds were very comfortable. The dogs and cats were super nice and loving as well. The ambience was truly wonderful. It was a bit difficult to find staff at times and we never found the pool- but we were gone during the day and the darkness sets in around 6 pm. "The treehouse was definitely worth the stay. Even though it had no AC, it wasn't needed. The temps in the forest were perfect even at night. The sounds of the forest were amazing to fall asleep too. Woken to the sounds of toucans more than once. I would recommend having a car if staying here. Having a vehicle allowed us the freedom to come and go as needed. Overall, this was a great place to stay!"
