Room description was smoke free but it wasn’t. Both restaurants were closed on Wednesday. Staff was helpful getting us reservations for a Resturant close by.
This is what I like to call a “keep your shoes on” hotel. The front desk area had been recently renovated, but as soon as you step off the elevator the facade is quickly ripped away. The carpets in the halls and rooms and grimy and stained. The constant beige and old 1970s motif hasn’t been update since. The bathroom had some mould in the shower. The bed was so uncomfortable, and the sheets were scratchy. The amenities provided were laughably garbage and insanely cheap. The only thing usable and not terrible were the towels. The doors and walls were thing so you hear everything in adjacent rooms and the hallway.
The area around it isn’t great either. It has a few things but Sabae isn’t exactly a great area to stay. At least this is close to the local train station (50 min train to Fukui) and a 15 min walk from the main Sabae station (15 min train to Fukui). Only went here as a last minute reservation to save money, and it was not worth a single penny I saved.
