"We had a perfectly good stay at the Dog and Partridge, but the accommodation didn’t transpire to be what we expect. We were anticipating a cozy room, in a country pub setting but, in reality, the D&P offers good value, chalet-style family rooms, each with it’s own car port, in a large area behind the pub itself. The pub itself has a nice enough bar, and offers fair evening meals, with a home-cooked feel, and a very good continental breakfast selection, or cooked options for just £6 extra. This...

"Lovely stay with excellent staff who were very welcoming and attentive during our one night stay. The accommodation was clean and well presented, although a little tired in places, which was absolutely fine for our stay. The bed was a small double, which was a little soft for my liking, although other reviews say the beds were great, so very much a personal preference. "The Red Lion was a lovely for me and my partner, we had an amazing stay. The staff at the pub were lovely, especially Aviva who was so friendly and helpful in the restaurant. I give four stars only because the price was a little unreasonable for the time of year (mid-November) when many local attractions are closed. Otherwise I could not recommend this place enough for a lovely weekend break. "

"We loved the hotel as it was in a remote area, away from the hussle and bustle of city life- it was like stepping back in time. The views from the hotel are amazing Hotel was clean, the staff were welcoming and very accomadatinhg, and went out their way to help you. "The hotel is very picturesque and characterful. The room was well appointed and decorated. You can eat downstairs in the pub and there was a good menu choice and a range of ales and lagers. Our food was very tasty. Breakfast options are limited. "
