"The Hotel Le Donjon is one of the most unique places I've ever stayed. It was a great experience. From our room we could see the Chateau Comtal, the castle of Carcassonne. The hotel is right in the middle of La Cite Medievale, near the Aude Gate. The staff was very helpful and accomodating. The room was spacious and the beds were comfortable. "This hotel was phenomenal. I am well traveled, and found this to be exceptional. I was upgraded to one of the suites, where I had one of the largest balconies one could ever expect from a hotel overlooking the southwest of France. I also had another balcony in the sitting room. The staff was really friendly and helpful. One tip – you cannot really drive to this hotel. It’s hard to find, and you have to park a bit away in the parking lot and track up the hill into the walled city. ."

"It was very difficult and confusing to figure out how to get into the building. Although I had already paid through Expedia, I had to pay again. And there is a computer monitor that asks your name and reseveration number. The hotel's reseveration number and Expedia's reservation number are different and I was using Expedia's reservation number. At the end of a long day, you don't want to waste 30 minutes trying to figure out how to get in. "

"The mattress was comfortable enough but not when it overhangs the divan base by a huge amount such that you could fall off. The staff refused to acknowledge our complaint, dismissing it as normal to put a large double mattress over smaller twin bases. They even implied we had created the problem by moving the bases together ourselves. Terrible customer service! Generally the decor was tired and the room too small despite the Privilege category. "
