"I stayed here with my family and we were fairly shocked regarding the service we received throughout our stay. First of all, I counted 18 hairs in the bathtub when checking into our room, the bathroom clearly hadn’t been touched. My family and I had booked 4 rooms at the hotel. We all noticed that none of our rooms had been ‘restocked’ when they had been cleaned. For example, no cups or amenities around the kettle biscuits, tea/ coffee, sugar etc were replaced. The bin also hadn’t been touched and we had to take the rubbish down ourselves. It felt like the staff who ‘cleaned’ the rooms done the bare minimum. Considering we paid well over £1,000 to stay here, that wasn’t much to ask. The fact this hotel calls itself 4* is beyond me, whoever is rating this as a 4* needs to seriously re-evaluate it, or at least get a second opinion. The breakfast was hit and miss, we were led to believe it was a ‘help yourself buffet’. The food was good, pastries were fresh overall it was okay. The following morning, no breakfast was out. Various staff members appeared uncertain of what was going on. We voiced our concerns by this point to a woman on the desk, she was helpful and was quick to help restock our rooms and apologised for the confusion. Overall, this hotel was a complete letdown, how they can call themselves 4* is beyond me. If you want a basic level of customer care I’d look elsewhere. The left hand doesn’t seem to know what the right hand is doing. "

"Such was the quiet we experienced, both of us slept like logs which was particularly welcome since we were on a pairs golf trip and needed our rest! Plenty of hot water in the shower, comfortable beds and decent coffee & tea making facilities for the morning get go. A definite mapping marker a return visit one day."

"We arrived at 3pm on a Sunday afternoon, the team were busy and to be expected. We were then attended to within a few minutes. Polite and friendly and shown to our room. It was a building near the pub. Parking was free and able to park outside the pub. Its all situated in a square,like a market square surrounded by big granite hills. We were shown to our room, was given a birthday card from the hotel chap which was a nice touch. The room was surfice and had ensuite. Outside window had all scafolding( no body working on it whilst there on our stay) just cut out alot of light. Food & drinks fantastic,good choices on the menu also breakfast. Great team chefs and bar team. Very nicely laid out restaurant. All very attentive ,polite and good banter. We were there to visit Portmerian but also explored a few other places too that were on the door step. The beaches are 10 mins yo 50 min drive we drove along the costal areas and visited the litte villages. Portmerian is truly spectacular, magical and fairy tale like. All in all our stay was perfect."
