I valued the fact that the proprietors had laid out a large bottle of water alongside a range of hot drinks (tea/coffee/hot chocolate sachets) for our arrival. "Friendly staff but disappointed overall. There was a large window with new curtains and carpet. There was a new toilet, sink and radiator in the bathroom. But it was small and the shower itself let the place down. They have overlooked some of the basics including decent beds without headboard and gap at the end to lose your pillows.Filling the kettle at the sink was near impossible as it didn’t fit under the tap."

"More shabby than chic, I nevertheless soon became quite enamoured of my humble little room on the first floor. These prices were often a third of the travelodge. Is Schmotel three times worse than travelodge? No it’s a different thing. I was therefore pleased that there were no ghosts or Frankensteins and no poo on the wall or ceiling, and nobody with loud and evil intent anywhere in the seven blessed rooms. "

"The apartments are lovely, and have everything you need; washing machine, microwave, toaster, oven etc. The only thing that would stop me coming again, is the exorbitant price charged for dogs. £20 per dog PER NIGHT! We have 2 small dogs, staying for 5 nights which would be an extra £200 on the bill! We queried it, and they reduced it to £15 per dog per night. But that is still an extra £150. Other places we have stayed in, charge between £20-£50 per stay. So, as lovely and convenient as it is,...
