"We arrived after dark via the airport shuttle bus, coming from stays in Bologna and Venice, and upon the very first impression, the neighborhood by the bus terminal and train station felt a bit worn and slightly sketchy. But once we got into the room, which felt comfortable and grand at the same time due to the sheer volume of space (I don’t know how high the ceilings are, but it felt like 20 feet) and got onto the Wi-Fi, we found a great local restaurant and had a wonderful dinner. "Central location to all attractions,which was convenient for popping back as very limited public toilets in Palermo centre. Very clean rooms Giuseppe always very helpful. Can be a bit of noise from the lift being used ."

"The room was lovely and the location was brilliant. Just a few steps from the bus, train and tram stations and an easy walk into the city centre. Breakfast was provided, although sadly we had leave before this was available, but there were drinks and snacks in the afternoon which was a treat. Our only gripe was that the checking in instructions were very late and didn't arrive until after we had. Since it was necessary to have a key code for entry after 13.00 I was getting rather agitated....

"Great stay. We arrived to a warm greeting after a much delayed train trip. Reception gave us good advice on places to visit, eat, get groceries. I left my ipad behind and they contacted me immediately so I hadn't left the station. Great service."

"Excellent hotel. I have a gluten sensitivity and am also a diabetic on a blood sugar sensor. I am nearly impossible to feed. There were abundant gf options on the breakfast buffet, and I was also able to get a hot gf breakfast prepared for me. The omelets were delicious, and I could get a cappuccino every morning, all included. The wait staff was knowledgeable about gluten and kept me safe. I got a hot stone massage at the hotel spa. It was excellent, and inexpensive. In general, the hotel is beautiful, and architecturally interesting. My room was very comfortable, and the view from my room is in the hotel brochure. I highly recommend this hotel."

"Porta de Castro was a wonderful stay. The only thing is if you want quiet, the street it is located on is busy and quite a bit of honking. Didn’t bother me, popped in some ear buds at night. The breakfast and staff were amazing!!! I felt very welcomed and the staff helped me with any questions, plus lots of suggestions on what to do in the areas. Very convenient to walk to almost any place, including the train station. "

"The hotel was centrally located. It's a grand old building with beautiful marble decor and glorious chandeliers. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. The rooftop restaurant was a delightful fine dining experience at a good price. "
