"One of my favorite hotels I've stayed in India and there has been many. The room and facilities are wonderful so much charm and atmosphere. Many options for dinning and leisure relaxation with fantastic views of the city. The food was excellent. The service was above and beyond and very friendly and helpful. "Good hotel for the price, and—they’re not kidding—it’s an amazing view of the Fort. Helpful staff, and very conveniently located. Just a couple minutes walk to the clock tower and the main markets, even if the few roads right around it are decidedly unlovely. Only complaint: they have local musicians and dancing every night at dinnertime. Nice for 5 minutes, but if you’re like me and just want to enjoy a drink and quietly enjoy the view, it’s pretty annoying to have to attend a show each...

"Great location to get anywhere in old town but still very quiet. Staff were super helpful and always available. Room was good, not fancy but clean and worth the price. I loved that you were welcome to sit on the rooftop for as long as you liked, moving from shade to shade with city sounds and an amazing view. Tip. If you aren't asked if you would like something from the restaurant just ask! "

"This property is right in the market area and yet quiet and calm. A variety of birds fly around the roof during breakfast with fort as a backdrop and violet temple in the foreground— kinda dreamy. We were in the temple room with old paintings on one wall. I think the dust rolling in from the street is a constant. Very convenient for shopping and getting tuktuk."

"Train was delayed six hours. Arrived at midnight. Friendly welcome. Couldn't be more helpful. Clean and comfortable room. Food available though it's a bit of a mystery where and when. Just ask. Rooftop terrace has a nice view of the Fort and the railway station. Train noise will be an issue for some. It's a 24 hour operation."

I visited many other Havelis in Jodhpur, to eat at their rooftop restaurants, and all of them were cleaner, had more staff working, and had other people staying there. You’ll often see us leaning backwards over the edge of a cliff or a high wall to get that perfect camera angle.

To get this shot of Ranisar Talab lake behind the majestic Mehrangarh fort of the blue city of Jodhpur in Rajasthan, India, we had to step outside of what would be most people’s comfort zones.

We had to traverse a wild, rocky desert landscape, navigate a steep incline, pass through a tiny doorway in an ancient crumbling fort wall, and then clamber up a steep slope of rubble and loose rocks to get up on top of that very same fort wall.

Once at the very top of the wall looking out over the lake, I had to back up to the very edge of the wall and avoid falling to my death to the ground over 30 metres below, just to get that perfect shot.

This was an off-limits part of the Mehrangarh fort complex where the vast majority of tourists almost never venture!

Epic shots often have epic stories behind them! We wanted to bring this issue to light, as many people don’t understand that if you want to take extraordinary travel photos, you sometimes have to be willing to do extraordinary things and step far outside of your comfort zone.

"this is a palace with part of the property inhabited by a royal family memeber. The rooms were exquisitely decorated and the lobby and common areas are amazing/sumptious. The food was great; the gym very good and the only drawback was the freezing pool! But it was january! Great hotel"
