"Val was the GM there when we stayed and she did a great job with everything. She gave us local recommendations for things to do. The room had a beautiful view of the water. There is a little trail to walk to this secluded beach with breathtaking sunrises. They catered a very nice 7 course meal one night for the guest and it was delightful. It all felt like an upscale bed and breakfast. Great secluded getaway. "

"Lovely cottage separate from the owners house but on the same lot. Great views of the ocean and sunrise. Well equipped kitchenette for self-catering as there are not many restaurants near by, however there is a grocery store in the next town over. Nice to hear the frogs at night, was very soothlng. Morning will bring sounds of cockerels so if you're a light sleeper bring earplugs. There is a fairly soft double mattress and a say bed, making this a perfect getaway for a couple. "

"We arrive around 9:30pm, everywhere pitch black, but the house felt warm and welcoming, right away. After the sunrise we definitely appreciated the views of the house, the grounds and generosity of the owners, regarding the fruits of their orchard, all were great. The outdoor hot tub, and the private sauna were also, delightful and very soothing. The local scene in Honoka'a is limited in terms of things to do, but all around nature is the star. I played/walked the 9hole course in town, and the hilly course took the wind out of me a couple of times. Overall, a great experience, and when we come back we will stay with Marcel and Connie, and Shigecko and Marcus! (apologies if I misspelled Shigecko's name)"

"We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the beauty scenic property. Mary has created such a wonderful surrounding, full of calm and peacefully set against a picturesque backdrop. We were surrounded by nature, wildlife, and so many things to see and explore each day. Mary, herself, is amazing. We really enjoyed our time with her, visiting and learning about the community she's built and her fascinating life. And, she has the sweetest dog. We're so happy to have connected with her and glad to have made such a wonderful friend :) Our daughter loved the stay so much she didn't want to leave. We've moved around during our stay here on the Big Island staying at 3 different places, and she still says Mary's cottage stay is by far the best! If you visit Big Island, we'd highly recommend staying at Mary's beautiful retreat – It's a definitely must! "

"My wife and I stayed at Royal Palms from November 8 to November 11 and had a wonderful time! Check in was very easy. A warm welcome note with a scrumptious fruit basket set a welcoming ohana feeling that was just right. The grounds and landscaping provided a lovely, tropical, and peaceful setting with relaxing nature sounds at night. The cottage decorum is elegantly casual with an awesome dry sauna and well appointed lanai. The Royal Palms cottage is definitely on our favorites list for big Island accommodations. Hosts Lauren and Kalani love this place and it shows! Aloha and mahalo nui! "

"Gorgeous property that is so relaxing and close to lots of great things to see. I cannot express how very relaxing it was to stay there. Of your looking for quiet and peaceful this is the place. The cabin was stocked with several condiments and all the dishes you need to cook. The laundry area had detergent and dryer sheet for free to use. The showers have everything you need. The animals are great and there is several fruit trees to pick from. We had a lemon for our chicken, and an orange for breakfast, straight from the tree! It is out of town, so a car is a must, but that was my favorite part! Thanks to the beautiful hosts for sharing their land with strangers! "
