"House totally as described but slightly spooked by the monkey butler as we entered by mobile torch light. The house is obviously still used to some extent as fresh food was found in the fridge. The kitchen oven and extractor were filthy. All dishes and pans had to be washed before they could be used. Carpets and floors had not been hoovered, cobwebs also noted. Winchester and Southampton are both a 15 minute drive and there are plenty of things to do with kids locally. "Very homely, beautifully decorated with interesting art work throughout, spotlessly clean, comfortable beds.We thought it might be noisy because the trains were near but it was not at all- a very quiet and peaceful location with great walks nearby. The town of Alresford with it's independent shops and plenty of choice for eating out is lovely. We ate well and reasonably at The Bell as recommended by our host. As stated, there is parking for two medium size cars, but not SUVs. There was no house book with instructions as to how to change the heating or put out rubbish. But the owner responded rapidly when we asked how to change the heating. There is a small Tesco Express nearby where most basic provisions can be bought. Would recommend without hesitation. "
