"The check in was not great as they pre authorized by credit card twice then told me the transactions failed despite my showing them the text that said it was cleared. I was on the phone with my Amex to prove to them that the charges went through and they refused me saying loudly that the transaction failed twice. I was displeased with the front desk all together. "Coming back from a late concert at the Kate and this place was close by. The employees were very nice and the rooms were in great shape. The heat/ac was working very well; our room was around 75 degrees our entire stay. No problems checking out either. "

"The main heating system was broken, requiring use of the backup system. The room was EXTREMELY cold and it took nearly an hour to warm up. No one had gone into the room to preheat it. Poor service. The back up heating system was VERY noisy and disrupted my sleep all night. Not a pleasant experience and I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone!!!!!!"

"The staff was very helpful and accommodating during our stay. It's 10 minutes from downtown which was convenient for us to visit family. The rooms are as expected in a motel but the beds are comfortable for a no frills stay. It really is the best option for Old Saybrook for reasonable price. It is right off I-95 but the double paned windows they put in keep the highway noise low. I couldn't hear it at night. I highly recommend the Liberty Inn."
