"On arrival check in was actually at a desk near side of the main bar area in the main pub/restaurant area not at a reception desk as shown on hotel pictures within in the hotel itself. limited staff at check in due to same staff also running the bar/restaurant customers, then unexpected on arrival never mentioned prior on the booking was then greeted with a £50 extra payment charge to pay before proceeding any further due to recent damage/theft at the hotel, which was quite a knock back but...

"Very comfortable and clean, staff exceptionally friendly and happy to help. Plenty of meal choices - and a Variety of events held there too - which was good fun! We were looked after very well at breakfast by the staff - but would’ve preferred a help yourself Continental style breakfast, where you can choose from what you see, rather than table service - the same as they do at Premier Inn. However , enjoyable stay and couldn’t fault in any way. Thankyou. "

"Overall the inn was nice, sevice was verry good and and staff were very friendly, the only concern was with the room being the bed being quite firm. Breakfast could of been better but was included and had alot of variety. But overall a nice inn."

"We had a perfectly good stay at the Dog and Partridge, but the accommodation didn’t transpire to be what we expect. We were anticipating a cozy room, in a country pub setting but, in reality, the D&P offers good value, chalet-style family rooms, each with it’s own car port, in a large area behind the pub itself. "A well located hotel in quiet location. Ample car parking, some with electric car charging points. Easy to find reception entrance and greeted by a pleasant and efficient member of staff. Every where looked relatively new and clean accommodation was on the first floor accessed by stairs. Rooms were numbered clearly and the Smart key entrance was easy to use. "The Red Lion was a lovely for me and my partner, we had an amazing stay. The staff at the pub were lovely, especially Aviva who was so friendly and helpful in the restaurant. I give four stars only because the price was a little unreasonable for the time of year (mid-November) when many local attractions are closed. Otherwise I could not recommend this place enough for a lovely weekend break. "

"A fantastic find for our needs. The owner was exceptionally helpful. Central to the city. Great value for money. We had a great room. However a few things to make it better : 1- the oven/microwave didn’t work even after trying a few times. It needs a master in engineering to make it work. Maybe stick with 2 separate items. 2- Not ideal for light sleepers. Can sadly hear a lot through the walls. 3- although the apartment was clean. I am not too sure the hoover was done. Disappointed

"Check in was awful. Asked to wait for 10-15 minutes as system “wasn’t working” with no apology or empathy from receptionist. Went to bar to get drink, had to pay as couldn’t charge to a room yet. Went back to reception with a queue of people that were being checked in (by someone else) all fine so took about 25-30 mins in all. Still no apology. Think should have come find me when system working?? Bar was all of 10 yards away! Got to room, and whilst clean, the carpet was threadbare, the same as it was along corridor to room (3rd floor). Room was also quite dark but think that was a “theme” Went to restaurant for dinner and staff were excellent and food was really good but was overpriced for what it was. See photo (£26) Warning, again dark theme and menu was extremely difficult to read, even waiting staff struggled! "
