There are few thing that I didn’t like:, the color of the walls is black, and makes the room look smaller and gloomy, the shower is very dangerous, there is a big step to do to go in and out, and the bottom of it it’s extremely slippery, I risked my life every night and also it doesn’t have a surface where you can put the soap or the shampoo on it, so it is very uncomfortable. "If you’re looking for an authentic old English pub stay then this is it. Such charm and character right in the centre of York. Yes the timber floor squeaks and rooms have a lean to one side but we loved everything about it. The drinks and food were great too. "

"I stayed here as a break on a trip going north. It was easy to get to off the motorway. A very sweet pub. The staff were friendly and the room was comfortable and quiet. A good English breakfast to set me off on the next day. "

"I really liked the convenience of this property. Just 2 small gripes. There was no hairdryer there and although it had coffee and tea making facilities, there was no teaspoon. As I do not carry one and there was no staff to ask for one, this was disappointing. Otherwise good."

"Fabulous location opposite the end of the Shambles and within easy walking distance of all of York’s attractions. Only one vegetarian option on the menu and limited selection of cask ales. There was no room cleaning for the 3 nights we stayed there - toilet rolls and drink replenishment had to be asked for downstairs. Cups were cardboard ‘to-go’ variety and there was no hairdryer. TV reception was ‘dodgy’. We spent most of our time out and about so didn’t have breakfast at the hotel as...
