"Stayed in the single room with a dog. The room was very comfortable and well appointed and a good size with single bed. The shower room was of a good size. The room overlooks the garden, some car parking and partial view of a road from the village. Out of season this room was lovely and quiet and suited my needs. "I stayed two nights in Castleton in mid-November amid some early snow which made the village and the walks around the hills stunning. But the real treat came after a long day of hiking when I was able to return to a cozy pub to have a hot meal, a pint of ale and a nice read by a roaring fire. "Friendly staff, and food was OK. The property needs significant TLC. The terrifying stairs probably cant be fixed, but the decor could be improved, and the bedroom could be given some character."

I give four stars only because the price was a little unreasonable for the time of year (mid-November) when many local attractions are closed.
