"I didn’t go to Myoko to sit in a hotel room, so this place was perfect. Comfy beds in a small room. Very dorm room style. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is great. I had a burger one night that was amazing. Great onsen too. I liked it but don’t think your getting luxury.. "

"Akakura Onsen is a small town and everything is fairly close by but thanks to the hotel we enjoyed discounts to renting the ski equipment at the shop nearby. We also enjoyed private use of the onsen for half hour each day and the English-speaking hotel stuff was super friendly and helpful."

"My wife and I enjoyed our 3-night stay at hotel Taiko. The hotel employees were extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel is only a short walk to the kumado ski base. The hotel pickup drop off service was great. We gave the hotel our train’s arrival time and the driver met us with a van when the train arrived! No waiting in the cold! "Onsen is the highlight, we booked for the western room but somehow we got the ryokan type which is a bit smaller and the private bathroom is tiny. My recommendation for breakfast is Japanese as the Western one, you will get just a fried egg, a ham and two breads. (Free coffee for Western, 400 yen for Japanese) So far, the hotel is nice, the owner family is so kind, helpful, and lovely, we had a good time there 😊 "
