"Full of character (with a museum in the basement). Close to restaurants and other sights (the cathedral/museums etc...). Self catering in rooms is basic - better to eat out. About 120 Euro taxi ride from Catania airport. Reception is not 24/7 so arriving out of hours needs some advance planning. Reception staff are very helpful. Ortigia itself is tiny and you can walk everywhere. Don't forget your afternoon siestas. "

"This stay was the perfect spot for our time in Ortigia. With the beach right outside and the market down the street, we were able to do everything we wanted even though there was some extreme heat. "Amazing location. Bed linen and bathroom were very clean and bed comfortable but a lot of dust under the bed and on top of cupboard. No kettle. It is located adjacent to a restaurant so very noisy at the weekend evenings. But good value for money."

"The house is spacious and comfortable, situated in a quiet but convenient area. Avola is 5 minutes away, the motorway linking Messina, Catania, Siracusa and Gela is also a few minutes drive from the house.A car is essential. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. If we had a problem they responded immediately. As for this area of Sicily there is lots to do. Beach lovers are well catered for and there are plenty of possibilities for hikers.
