"We loved our stay in Luxury Standard Room 209 at Tulemar. We saw squirrel monkeys daily from our balcony, and toucans, sloths, scarlet macaws, leaf-cutter ants, frogs, bats, and iguanas on the grounds also. The private beach was never crowded, and we appreciated the complimentary umbrellas and chairs, as well as the ability to order food and drinks from Tule Cafe while on the beach. "FYI: They don’t tell you at the beginning when you check in but you must return all keys when you checkout or you will get charged $20 US per key. Towels are $40 US or they will charge you so make sure you count the towels and make sure to return them. We found out when we were checking out! "The accommodations are basic, nice and clean..but you stay here for the fantastic beach and atmosphere directly in front of the seaside restaurant. Amazing vibe! "I’ve stayed here before. It’s a great place, right on the beach. The studio suite was perfect. Very large and comfortable beds, s small kitchenette. Howler, capuchin, and spider monkeys visit the property all of the time. We say more monkeys at the hotel than around the parks. Only the smallest possible complaint. On the upper floor, some sort of nut or seed regularly hits the metal roof. It makes a bang. It’s not disturbing or anything, but it’s there. Don’t be surprised."

"We were not put into the room that we saw advertised online - be prepared for that and message the hotel before you book to make sure what you see is what you’re getting. It’s currently under renovation and certain rooms are much nicer than others. About 3/4 of the hotel seems to be renovated and is very nice.
