"We heard great reviews for this hotel from friends in Manado, so we booked a room for our stay. I’m giving five stars because I believe my friends. However, a volcano meant that our flight turned around 30 minutes before we were supposed to land in Manado. We couldn’t use our reservation. I wrote to Expedia and the hotel to cancel the reservation. Expedia said they couldn’t refund the money because they needed to first receive the consent of the hotel and the hotel didn’t respond the hotel...

"Staff was amazing and very helpful. Stephane the manager helped us when we had a problem with our bathroom and moved us to another even nicer room. Very nice breakfast actually the best we had in Sulawesi. The dinner menu could be more extensive and a bit lower in the price as compared with other places it’s quiet pricey. Great location for diving and snorkelling (but not for walking around to explore North Sulawesi - needed to drive other places). 20min boat ride to the "house reef" wall around Bunaken. "The accommodation was nice, as were the Dutch owners. The problems for me were that I was a solo traveller and also the only guest. So it was a bit lonely. Also, Tongkaina is very quiet. Lunch was not included and the only options in the village seemed to be a couple of dirt-floored warungs. The third thing was that, if you are a snorkeller, it makes more sense to stay on Bunaken, cos the Grand Luley boats take you to Bunaken anyway."
