"Nicole and Malcolm make Craigmount so special. Book themed bedrooms to reflect Wigtown, and a lovely sitting room to read or eatch TV. Our double bedded room with ensuite overlooked the garden. The room was quite compact, and made more so by our largish suitcases. If you have big bags, perhaps book a family room. All the rooms are accessible via stairs. The pre-ordered breakfast was freshly cooked and wonderful. Dinner options in town or nearby were limited, except to drive, especially mid-week. Nicole offers a simple evening meal option of a choice of a few home cooked meals, to eat in the dining room. We had her delicious chicken curry one night. BYO drinks. Both Nicole and Malcolm were great sources of local information, and really helpful. Excellent place to stay."

"Overnight Stay. Lovely Hotel with Delicious Breakfast. Outstanding customer Service! The stay responded immediately to any questions before we arrived. They have 24/7 front desk - big plus! The “castle” is a short taxi ride from the Stena ferry and across from the CityLink bus stop - very convenient! We arrived late at 10pm on the Stena Ferry from Ireland. Thanks to the hotel sharing the Taci number, I called ahead and scheduled a ride who was waiting for us when we got off the ferry. Alan greeted us at the hotel to give us our room key. He was so nice and brought us extra bath towels (which are quite large) and a portable fan, as my sons get very hot - even with the night air through the window.). Very kind of Alan. The beds were very comfortable. The shower had good pressure. We had paid for the breakfast - which I recommend highly. It was delicious. You could self serve with cereal, fruit, juice, yogurt, toast and yummy croissants - or order off the menu. Their black pudding and Haggis was delicious! It was our first time to try both. As we walked out to catch the CityLink bus across the street, we could see the water and small town. Such a beautiful small town. It was a lovely overnight stay. We wish we could have stayed longer."

"Stayed in a deluxe family room which was excellent. Very spacious with 2 large seperate bedrooms, hall and very large modern and beautifully finished bathroom. Smart technology mirrors in both bedrooms and good sized tvs. Beautiful views from the large windows and good storage in cupboards. Bathrobes and towels for the pool in the cupboards. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and glad we paid a bit extra for the deluxe room. We’ll definitely be back. Lovely traditional expansive entrance with lots of character. Great full sized snooker table room. Dining areas and conservatory all very nice and traditional. Swimming pool was a really good size, with good sized changing rooms. Lovely large windows overlooking the golf course. Jacuzzi was good but not the most modern. Sauna was out of order. Beautiful surroundings and lovely vast historical building. A nice walk through the woodland and past the golf course into Gatehouse. Overall really enjoyed our stay and will definitely return. "

"The views from the hotel are amazing . The staff and very friendly , informative and helpful . Our room was very spacious with views over the fields (room 20.) Very clean and tidy . Breakfast very good and sets you up for the day . Pre dinner cocktails sitting in the garden an added bonus . Dinner exceptional and in particular the curries ! Would highly recommend staying at Ernespie again . Anyone travelling with children the neighbouring Ernespie Farm and play area is ideal . Thank you Ernespie . Aly & Greg "

"Fabulous location, good food, nice staff. Bedroom door had terrible squeak, saw the handyman and he said he would fix it, but didn’t! In the morning took a long time to check out as the computer would not upload, it was 9.30! Parking £6.50 a night, not stated on the booking🙄"
