"The experience of staying at Kalani Oceanside Retreat was very relaxing and beautiful. We enjoyed the yoga class we signed up for very much. The people we encountered, both guests and staff, were great to talk with. The cottage we stayed at had lots of room and we had a fabulous view of the ocean and grounds around us."

"It was perfect for our state. Very clean kind of treehouse vibes in the middle of the fern forest the price was extremely reasonable. Location is very secluded in the middle of the forest gravel road going in very dark if you come in late but very safe location we stayed in number five had a perfect shower table microwave small fridge upstairs had a bed and a restroom, I would recommend If you like to save the environment and stay away from lots of touristy types of properties. "Staying on the papaya farm was a rustic refreshing change. Sleeping to the sounds of tree frogs and birds was lovely. Our hosts were great. The only issue we had was this property is listed as handicap accessible. I hope the host removes this before someone who is really handicapped rents it. There were rocky steep steps going into the cabin (the host gave us a sheet of plywood to lay down, but it was too steep for the wheelchair). There was also gravel going from the bedroom to the kitchen...

"It’s in an unpaved road it looks really runs down like they made huts/rooms on a piece of land the pools looks unsanitary when I first looked at the picture for an entire unit it looked like I was getting everything in one house all connected but it’s not this place is like a community use and very private at all"

"We loved the modern cabin and its amenities. Convenient location only 3 miles from Volcano National Park. Not as secluded as you might think - which could be good or bad depending on what you’re looking for… Neighbors were noisy at times and you can hear highway traffic. But you also hear frogs and birds! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend and would book again! "

"This property is an unusual little gem tucked away in the rainforest. The host has created nicely appointed, comfortable guest cabins. The cabins, the shared kitchen/dining building and the grounds are well maintained and artistically decorated. "The house is on a 1-acre lush property in a quiet neighborhood set one street back from the ocean. Very convenient location but one should have a vehicle as the neighborhood is enormous and 4 miles to the main road. House was as described but we didn't know up front about the downstairs situation (as Vinnie H. described in May 14, 2024 post). "I can’t even begin to tell you how spiritual, restful and wonderful it was staying at the Enchanted Rainforest Hideaway! Connie and Andrew were the best hosts ever! The Hideaway is absolutely beautiful, well stocked and private!! Connie met me upon arrival and reviewed everything with me. It is the most restful place I have ever stayed in on a trip. "My sister and I stayed at the cottage and loved our visit. The cottage is clean and comfortable. It is decorated beautifully and has everything you need for a quiet stay in Volcano. Check-in was a breeze and we can’t wait to return. The outside shower is amazing. "

"Great communication with the host. We really enjoyed the stay and the beautiful setting. The only recommendation I would make is to have the dehumidifier be self draining, as it got pretty damp unless we were able to empty it at least 3-4 times a day."

"Nice quiet area. Enjoyed the orange and lemon trees. Birds, frogs and bugs were quite noisy but could barely be heard when the house was closed up. A gallon pitcher, funnel and juicer would be helpful. "

"It was very accommodating for me and my friends we had a costume party. It was wonderful, the place was very spacious and had lots of amenities. Privacy was nice and the jungle scenery was a huge relaxing plus. The host was very friendly and communicated very often. I would definitely stay again in this beautiful area. "

Fun Place to Stay

"This was an ideal location for us and close to where we wanted to go on the Big Island. The room was compact and had everything we needed. The property is charming and was especially amazing at night with laser lights twinkling all over the gardens. Plenty of off road parking was a nice bonus. Would definitely recommend to others!"

Fabulous Views

"We really enjoyed our stay. The house was nice, but definitely needs some TLC. That did not deter from the beauty of the water below. We saw a turtle nearly everyday. It was a great place to visit all the sites nearby and we enjoyed the small town of Pahoa. The house was furnished well. Kitchen well stocked. We were grateful for the washer and dryer as well! All in all, very relaxing. The beds were good. We had one night that was very wet and it was a little humid in the house. But listening to the waves hit those rocks put me to sleep everytime! Thanks Liv!"

"My stay here was nice, but I suggest arriving there during the day, it's very dark there at night. The place was very nice and tropical nature feel. It was clean but smells like cedar, if that bothers you. Very comfy bed too. I stayed two nights with no problems. The area is dark and nothing around. Very secluded and a little eery when staying alone but it is very close to the volcano which is why I came! All in all great stay! "
