"We stayed for 3 nights for a Christmas shopping trip, the hotel is in a perfect location very close to York Minster and with lovely bars and restaurants on the doorstep. We were met with a very warm welcome, our room was small but had everything we needed and was spotlessly clean. I would highly recommend this lovely boutique Guest House"

"We both fell in love with this beautiful Victorian house and its wonderful landlady. We were made very welcome and given a map of York together with an explanation about the Bars and Gates. Our room was imaculate and boasted a modern shower room, with plenty of towels. There was plenty to chose from for breakfast, but we both opted for the Full English (of course) locally sourced sausage and bacon. There is a car park, but i can't remember seeing a lift. We're already planning a return visit."

"Slightly complicated check in process with nobody on site and having to call a mobile number. However, once I was in everything was very clear. My room was up 2 very steep sets of stairs. It was compact but clean, with a small ensuite. The shower pressure was very weak unfortunately, but otherwise the room was excellent value for money. On arrival we were greeted and made welcome by the owner. A spacious room with a very comfortable bed. The breakfast was excellent. Top quality ingredients and all in all a great experience "
