"Comfy bed, friendly staff, hot shower. WiFi is horrible, you need to sit outside to have good signal. The building is staff house for staff of several resorts on the island. No holiday atmosphere. People really live there. Dirty towel of guest before me was in the closet. Staff is friendly but could explain all the buttons in the room (hot water/airco etv) and be a bit more hospitable."

"It was super run down, very musty and dirty. Was desperate and booked it super last minute as couldn’t find any other accommodation but could not stay there as it was unbearable. "

"Didi and his wife treated us nicely all the way and supported us with helpful information all over the trip and even beyond. The place was super clean and the breakfast superior. We even got a nice Motobike ride with our boy in the village. They also rent bikes to trip around the island or support with long time taxi over the day."

"An old building with a modern twist. Located within the heart of Alor Setar Chinatown, it has lots of dinning places and within a short walk to the city centre. The only downside(for us) is the loud live band music from the pub nearby(Terrace 48) which will go on till 12-12.30am :) "

"Ong's homestay has many rooms and there is a front porch for parking. This place is not ideal if you have no car to travel around the area. Mr Ong is very friendly and it is still a good place to stay if you wish to be centrally located near Kuah Town."

"Booked Malinja homestay for 8 days and do our own cooking while on holiday. First impression took us aback to find the house lack of maintenance. We got loose taps, no bathroom sinks or mirrors. Loose door knobs at almost doors in the house. Understandably due to its location in Kampong area, expect some pests(ants, flying bugs and house lizards.. Water heater for display only.
