"As a history geek and a crafter, I immediately fell in love with this place, perched up on a hill, clearly seen from the main road. The current owners Ken and Sarah have lovingly restored the house to its 19th century elegance, whilst maintaining the 16th century Tudor elements. The communal rooms are comfortable, the bedrooms all have a theme, I was in the pretty bird room. Excellent breakfast and there's a great pub 3 miles down the road, The Nag's Head, for dinner. "Lovely cabin, equipped with everything we needed for a couple of nights. No towels, but we knew that as communication beforehand was really good. The area is lovely, with horses on the premises and great walking around."

"An area of the bedroom carpet was very wet and we had to stand on it when accessing the wardrobe and when passing through the door. This was especially unpleasant during the night. The carpet showed no signs of drying out so the possible cause was a drainage leak from the adjacent shower room. The communal rubbish bins, located in the car park directly below the flats were overflowing with bagged and unbagged household rubbish dumped in many areas. It was likely that vermin would be attracted...

A great, old traditional inn

"Lovely place to stay, right in the heart of Shrewsbury. It's a lovely old building, full of character and the staff were so friendly and helpful. We ate in the bar the first night we stayed and the food was hearty and home made. The bar was really busy and was obviously a popular venue. Despite the bustling atmosphere of the bar, once we were in our room we were not disturbed at all. Also, they give 10% off food and drinks to their residents - a highly appreciated touch. "
