"Been to Kawhia a few times and stayed at the camp grounds. With parents wanting to join I wanted to find somewhere close and homey! Excellent central location, all the ammenities and relaxing atmosphere. Perfect for escaping the busy city life. "

"This property was very unique and a great place to stay, especially after visiting the Hobbiton Movie Set earlier in the day. The rooms did smell a little like “Middle Earth” when we arrived, but the fans were running and the owners were obviously trying to deal with the problem which was much appreciated. "From the moment we drove in Kawhia bay and stepped onto the balcony we were in heavon! The Bach had everything we needed, we were able to bbq every night, the kitchen was well equipped, large fridge to stock our food and drinks (note there are no local shops so you need to bring what you need - closet general store is 15 min drive). "It was just as described but a too small for 4 adults. Great for family for one night. Very close to Black water caves, it was perfect for that. The Fat Kiwi Cafe is a must visit just 9 minutes down the road. Missed a stove but the BBQ was a great improvision. Very cool concept. "

"My family stayed here for two nights. This location is just around the corner from the caves, but is secluded. An excellent place to stay to avoid the crowds. The hostess responds fairly quickly to questions. I highly recommend going on the farm tour if you can - the tour is usually included for people staying at one of the hostess's properties, and includes the opportunity to meet sheep, cows, goats, alpacas, emus, and ostriches.
