"Very central property, very convenient for visiting the city. Not quite the 5* we expected but was ok for one night. Our room was down under ground level with an interesting view over gutter pipes and it was quite noisy - both from inside and outside the hotel. We only booked one night, it is unlikely we would have stayed longer than this."

"Greta location, 10-15 mins walk into the city centre. Very warm welcome from the chap at the hotel. Couldn’t do enough for us. Room was spotless, tea and coffee facilities. Hotels.com advertise a free breakfast but they don’t do this anymore. Not an issue for us but could probably be updated. Slight noise from other rooms and the street but the hotel provide earplugs and the windows have an extra screen to try and keep noise out. "We stayed for 3 nights for a Christmas shopping trip, the hotel is in a perfect location very close to York Minster and with lovely bars and restaurants on the doorstep. We were met with a very warm welcome, our room was small but had everything we needed and was spotlessly clean. I would highly recommend this lovely boutique Guest House"

"Nothing terribly unique. But it was withing decent walking distance of York city center and all the attractions, shopping, and food that goes with that. The breakfast was also incredible. Really excellent. The neighborhood was very quiet and felt quite upscale. "

"Very quiet and and clean. Typical English cottage taken from a history movie, with a homey feeling. Loved staying there. Walked to town easily when the weather was good, or took the buss (station very close). Would love to stay there again when visiting York. "

"Slightly complicated check in process with nobody on site and having to call a mobile number. However, once I was in everything was very clear. My room was up 2 very steep sets of stairs. It was compact but clean, with a small ensuite. The shower pressure was very weak unfortunately, but otherwise the room was excellent value for money. "Booked for one night and was able to check in and leave the car from 11am in one of the designated parking spaces close to b&b .The b&b is close to york centre easy walking distance , there was everything in the room we needed and it was adequate for a small double room . Unfortunately we experienced an issue in the early hours of the morning which resulted in us checking out and leaving , as nobody lived on site , we felt we didnt have much option . "The hotel room was large and well furnished, though the bed was slightly uncomfortable and I think the mattress had seen better days. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was good and catered pretty well for our vegan diet, though the vegan milk options were somewhat limited. The hotel is ideally placed for access to Knaresborough town centre and had ample private parking. "
