"This is a very pleasant place. It is tastefully decorated and the bar offers a lovely space to grab a drink or a coffee at the end of the day. The breakfast area is elegant and overlooks the green back garden. My room was underground. It wasn’t dark but I could hear the cars that parked nearby and people walking on the road. However since this is a generally quiet area, this was not a major problem. The shower cubicle in my room needed maintenance because the water did not drain well. Otherwise...

"The stay was fine. The parking was confusing. I pre-paid £5 but parked in the NCP (saying so when I arrived). I have just had a fine from NCP for £40. I now see this is not part of the Zone 10 street parking. The guest house should make this very clear on arrival when they accept payment. "

"A lovely overnight stay. Room small and quirky but comfortable bed and although we could hear the people talking in the bar underneath the room it didn’t keep us awake. A lovely evening meal and excellent breakfast. Staff very friendly and helpful. A good choice."

"Excellent place to stay very peaceful but lots of places to eat & drink close at hand "

" basic but very comfortable accommodation 10 minutes walk from the nearest pub.The room was a decent size the bed was comfortable there was plenty of storage. The bathroom and shower were good with plenty of toiletries. there is plenty of parking room. I would take a torch if walking to local pubs and restaurants as the road has no pavement for about 100 metres and is quite dark but the road is quiet on a night"

Excellent Budget Hotel

"Lovely stay overnight. Clean hotel, very nice dog friendly room. Ate dinner and breakfast in the on site restaurant, and both were very good. Staff incredibly helpful and welcoming. Would recommend and visit again. "

Great historic hotel with modern amenities

"Old Tudor hotel in centre of Tewkesbury. Although you got the feel of a Tudor property, the rooms & bathrooms have been refurbished with modern fittings, & walk in showers. No lifts & bedrooms over two floors so there can be quite a few steps. All staff very friendly, helpful & polite. Bar closed 10.30pm even for residents Thursday which was a surprise. Night porter had to let us in & just said most places close 10.30pm mid week. Most hotels I stay at serve to residents, even if it is just night porter serving drinks. Eco friendly, with eco setting on shower & option to skip the daily clean. As we were there three nights we just skipped clean as bathroom towel rail dried towels. Breakfast cooked fresh & was very good with fresh fruit, pastries, cereals & several choices of hot food as well as juices & fresh coffee etc. Evening meal on other hand left a lot to be desired. The pie was recommended by the waitress, but we were very disappointed, as was another guest we were talking to at breakfast. Fair play to the management though, when he heard how the pie was described, what was served & how we all felt about it, he refunded the meal without hesitation. He promised to find out what went wrong as he was genuinely surprised. I have no doubt, the pie will be much better if we stay again on our next trip to the races. The hotel is ideally placed on the high street with lots of shops, bars, restaurants and the river, all nearby. I would happily stay at the hotel again."
