"We really enjoyed our stay which was partly a Christmas Present for my wife. The weather was kind and we were able to visit Hadrians Wall as well as Vindalanda and get in some good walks (for us!). The accommodation was excellent the staff very friendly and helpful. We were completely satisfied."

"The String Of Horses was an amazing place to stay. A quietly located inn it has superbly appointed rooms - the bathroom was amazing and the bed large and so comfortable; a lively restaurant serving quality high food and comfortable bar with an open fireplace. Staff are friendly and provide an amazing service from front of house and throughout the bar and restaurant. The breakfast service is high quality too with lovely food prepared to order. Well worth a visit and we’ll be back 👍"

"We had a lovely stay at the Coach and Horses, very clean and comfortable, lovely breakfast and food. We where given a warm welcome. Everything was perfect. We managed to park our motorcycles on the road opposite the property which we could see from our room window. Parking was free from 5pm - 9am and we where given a disc from 9am-11am which is when they needed to be moved til 5pm. All day Free parking was available at a car park close by. We will definitely return if we are ever in the area...

Although property is old fashioned, my single room, with en suite was very clean and bed was comfortable The breakfast cerea,l yogurt etc was an unexpected bonus. Kettle, microwave and fridge in room. Member of staff on arrival friendly and helpful. I couldn’t get the tv to find any chanels, but not there long enough to enquire about it. Could do with a chair, but overall exactly what i wanted Thank you"

"Horrendous journey to the Fox and Pheasant. Worried we would miss the dinner cut off time we called through. Been traveling for over 10 hours! No problem arrive very tied to a lovely bowl of soup. Feel in to bed and had an amazing sleep. Set off next morning after a fantastic breakfast and a lovely packed lunch. Defo stop off again"

"I was taken to the room, which was somewhat cramped with ever-so-slightly grubby duvets and extremely thin pillows. All acceptable problems I was prepared to deal with (as was the remote for the oddly-placed tele being dead, but that's me being picky) and I was even able to accept the fact that the shower had two settings - literally scalding (the red of my hand taking hours to go down) or too cold to use. "Our multi-generational family absolutely loved our stay at Fell End. The house was decorated for Xmas and is beautiful throughout. The facilities including movie room, hot tub, table football, table tennis were awesome. The house is homely, warm throughout and stylishly and comfortably furnished! Great value!!"
